about

Inspired by Paul McCartney and Wings, this is an upbeat tale of a One-Man Band who finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

lyrics

Well the story began with a musical man known as Mr. Palomar
He would shuffle along with a big bass drum on his back as he played the guitar
He had plied his trade along the esplanade longer than he cared to recall
From the look on his face of profound distaste it was clear he'd had enough of it all
Well there was more to this caper than they put in the paper for this man of a musical bent
had been plotting and scheming for a less demeaning means of paying his rent
With a gun in his hand this crazed one man band's crazy plan began to take shape
As he ran round the town robbing each bank he found before deftly making his escape

Oh, what has he done? Now he's a one man band on the run
He's robbing banks like it's going out of style
With a shotgun and a big bass drum he's running wild
He's lost control, he's a man possessed,
And still he'll play a jolly tune for you as he resists arrest
They say he's mad, I say he's just having fun
He's a one man band on the run

He's a gentleman thief with a winning smile
He'll keep a steady beat as he runs the minute mile
Well who knows what cracked in the mind of this chap
With a drum on his back and a gun in his hand
From the word of those present he was really quite pleasant as he made his demands
Well he gathered the money in somewhat of a hurry, left the crowd wanting more,
And got a standing ovation as he passed the police station for one last encore

Oh, what has he done? Now he's a one man band on the run
He's robbing banks like it's going out of style
With a shotgun and a big bass drum he's running wild
He's lost control, he's a man possessed,
And still he'll play a jolly tune for you as he resists arrest
They say he's mad, I say he's just having fun
He's a one man band on the run
